steep narrow stairs, clear communication of budget nature, proximity to tram line
Bathrooms really need more space!!! The noise levels from neighboring rooms are quite bothersome!!! Shared facilities could use better maintenance!!! Ensure just a basic expectation for comfort!!!

The twin room was airy and had an air conditioning, a storage and a couch. The location was favourable and lovely near Hortus park, a short walk to a subway station. Moreover had so much fun by the lake, set 600 feet of the venue.

I like that it is quite near of the city center and that there is a possibility of cooking dinner in a dining room, thart is great
Some rooms are too small, which means very uncomfortable, the humidity is notorious everywhere, especially in the inner rooms. There are some mice in one room and that is scary and uncomfortable, there is no soap in the rooms.

I enjoyed staying in Hotel Hortus. Actually, Hotel Hortus is more like a hostel, but in a positive way. The guys from reception were very friendly and helpful. I got a good breakfast included in a price, and also there is a pool table which you can play for free.
There were some problems with a toilet, because some ladies dropped pads into toilet bowl, and facilities are shared in most of the rooms. But again, this problem was fixed after a day.

Had a blast with friends! The super nice team and the location was great. We visited the zoo and the botanical garden, made even better with the option to hire bikes from the hotel. The breakfast was solid and kept us full. Definitely worth considering for budget travelers!
One thing to note, the room was a bit too bright and cold due to the window situation, made sleeping tricky.

Quiet and very secure neighborhood, very close to a tram station but you need it only to get to the train station or airport since the hotel is not far from all Amsterdam attractions. They give good breakfast which was included in the price.
Very basic, poor and old room fourniture, small room but fairly clean. Walls are very thin so you can hear walking people in the hall and in next rooms. Room wasn't cleaned during our stay and they didn't gave us towels nor soap. It's very expensive for that quality and you can easily get better in other cities but we were told that hotels in amsterdam were all very expensive.

The rate was great, the staff was friendly, our room was clean and the beds were comfortable.
The walls and doors are thin so the folks staying in the other rooms could be heard at all hours of the night coming and going. The doors shut hard so every tme someone goes in or out, the door basically slams.
